Narkanda :
Halfway between Shimla and Rampur, Narkanda is a popular place for hiking. Hattu peak is only six Kms. from this place. It is 64 Kms. from Shimla.

Rampur :
Descending to the banks of the Sutlej upto 1005 metres and travelling north-eastward, the road leads to Rampur, Sarahan and Kalpa. The Sutlej is crossed by the Dhauladhar above Rampur, 136 km from Shimla and located on the banks of the river. The terraces in the Sutlej valley are developed around Rampur, where numerous villages are located. An important sub-divisional town, Rampur has a market for local produce and is one of the biggest commercial town of Himachal Pradesh. Rampur was once the capital of the erstwhile Himalayan Kingdom of Rampur Bushehar. This is one of the biggest commercial towns of Himachal Pradesh and the venue of the biggest trade fairs of Northern India known as 'LAVI', which takes place in the second week of November.

Sarahan :
Former capital of Bushahr Empire, Sarahan is a wonderful little village in a beautiful region of Deodar forest. There are spectacular views and trekking opportunities to nearby villages such as Ranwin and Bashal peak. A fine example of Hindu – Budhist architecture is seen at historical Bhimakali temple. Beyond Sarahan, lies Kalpa, the last big village on the Indo – Tibett road. This region is best for trekking. Sarahan is 175 Kms. from Shimla.

Sangla:
Sangla Valley, also known as Baspa Valley, is by far the most beautiful valley of Kinnaur. It starts from Karchham where the Baspa river, coming from the east, joins the Sutlej. The road for Baspa valley branches off from Hindustan - Tibet road at the river junction and after turning south, crosses the Sutlej over a bridge to reach Karchham. The road then veers south-east to arrive at Chitkul via Sangla. Sangla situated at an elevation of 2680 metres is also the Tehsil Headquarter with a small population.

Kalpa:
Kalpa (altitude of 260 M) the district headquarters is situated at a distance of 260 km from Shimla and 51 km from Sangla. Two Kilometer away from Powari on the Hinduastan Tibet Road, towards left side, wide link road leads to Recong Peo and then to Kalpa. Kalpa is surrounded by vineyards, which are protected from the ranges of bears by large sheep dogs especially trained for the purpose. There is a temple dedicated to Narenas god. The visitors can buy Kinnauri shawls and caps from Handicrafts Emporium at Kalpa. Kalpa has earned its name because of good quality Chilgoza, which go in abundance. Powari is 7km down to National Highway from Recong Peo.

Kaza:

Kaza is the sub-Divisional Headquarters of Spiti sub-division, which was sometime back the Headquarters of the Nono, Chief of Spiti. It is known for its asbestos mines, which owing to lack of transport facilities, has since been abandoned. Situated at the foot of steep ridges, on the left bank of river Spiti on National Highway is Tehsil of Spiti valley. Ki-Monastery is visible right from the road. It is really fantastic view.
