| The Ridge : |
| This large open space in the heart of the town
presents excellent views of the mountain ranges. Shimla’s
landmarks the neo,Gothic structure of Christ church and the
neo, Tudor library building are here. Lakkar Bazaar,
popular for its wooden crafts is just off the Ridge. |

| Chadwick falls : |
| The fall is 67m high and is worth
visiting in the months from July to October when monsoon is
there. The fall is seven Kms from Shimla and can be reached
via Summer Hill, were Mahatma Gandhi stayed at the Raj Kumari
Amrit Kaur’s mansion. |

Temples
:
Jakhu Temple :
At 2455m, is the highest point of the town and a vantage
point for Shimla’s famous views. The summit is crowned
with a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. |
Tara Devi Temple :
It is 10 Km. from Shimla and is dedicated to the
goddess of stars. It is situated on top of a hill, and
another temple dedicated to Lord shiva is nearby. .

Sankat Mochan :
It is seven Kms. from Shimla and is situated on
Shimla – Chandigarh road. The temple is dedicated to
Lord Hanuman. |
Christ Church & St.Michael’s Cathedral :
The Christ church is second oldest church in Northern
India and was built in 1846. One of the Shimla’s major
landmarks the church is also renowned for its stained
glass windows. The other main church in Shimla is St.Michael
Cathedral, just below the central telegraph office |

| It is situated in the eastern side of Shimla,
16 Km. From main Shimla town. This is famous for its wide
views. The nearby countryside offers some great hiking, including
to nearby Mahasu peak.Kufri is promoted for Skiing (from December

| It is situated in wild jungles 26 Kms. far
away from Shimla. It is surrounded by Deodar trees and carpetted
with a green turf.Every year in June SIPI fair is organized
which draws a big crowd. It has a nine hole golf course which
was designed by Lord Curzon. |

| Chail : |
| It used to be the summer capital of The Maharaja
Bhupinder Singh of Patiala.It has got the highest cricket
ground in the world. The pitch is surrounded by tall trees.
On a clear day it affords splendid view of the valley through
which the river Sutlej winds its way.It is 45 Kms. from Shimla.

| Kasauli : |
| Kasauli is one of the small towns developed
by The Britishers on Kalka – Shimla road . It is famous
for Pasteur’s Institute that produces anti-rabbies vaccines
which is used for treatment of mad dog bite. The highest point
in Kasauli is called Monkey point which is 4 Kms. from Kasauli.
On a starry night one can have splendid view of Chandigarh
which looks like a lit up ship. It is 77 Kms. from Shimla.

| Solan : |
| It is a part of District Mahasu . The town
is named after Goddess Soloni Devi whose temple is located
in the south end . Solan is also known for its breweries A
brewery unit was started in 1835 by an Anglo – German Co-operation
and was taken over by Major Mohan in 1966. Now it is called
Mohan Meakins Brewery. Solan is the ideal spot for picknickers.
Places to visit Karol Tibba, Meteol Tibba. Just a Kilometre
away is Kotla Nullah which provides lovely shady spots with
fresh running water.Solan is 50 Kms from Shimla. |

| Barog : |
| Barog is not a bad place for a day trip by
train from Shimla. There are nice walks nearby, including
that to the Churdhar mountain.It is 55 Kms. from shimla. |

| Sarahan : |
| Former capital of Bushahar Empire, Sarahan
is a wonderful little village in a beautiful region of
Deodar forest.There are spectacular views and trekking opportunities
to nearby villages such as Ranwin and Bashal peak. A fine
example of Hindu – Budhist architecture is seen
at historical Bhimakali temple. Beyond Sarahan, lies Kalpa,
the last big village on the Indo – Tibett road. This region
is best for trekking. Sarahan is 175 Kms. from Shimla. |

| Nahan : |
This town was founded in 1621 by Raja Karan
Prakash. It is crowned by 3647 metre high Choordhar peak.
One can enjoy number of splendid walks through the dense
forests and around the many temples is an ideal way to experience
beauty of Nahan. The famous walks are Military Round, Hospital
round and Villa round.
Besides visiting Jagannath temple and Bala Sundari temple
it is worth to visit Shivalik Fossil Park. The fossils were
found in this park which are supposed to be 185 million years
old. |

| Paonta Sahab : |
| It is situated on the bank of river Yamuna.
Paonta Sahab is a peaceful shrine – a Gurudwara dedicated
to the tenth Sikh Guru, Gobind Singh who spent five years
here. Guru Gobind Singh jee spent his days at Paonta writing
the Dasam Granth and in educating his followers.It is 250
Kms. From Shmla and 80 Kms. from Renuka Jee via Nahan. |

| Renuka Ji : |
The Renuka Lake is regarded as the embodiment
of Renuka jee, the wife of the sage Jamadagini and mother
of Parshuram – one of the ten Avtaars of Lord Vishnu. Shaped
like a profile of a woman, the lake has a circumference of
2.5 kms. Boating and trekking are the additional attractions
of Renuka lake. Here is a perfect year around destination
that beckons every traveller. Renuka Jee is 95 Kms. from Ambala
and 335 Kms. from Delhi. |

| It is 15 Kms. from Shimla on the Shimla – Mashobra
– Naldhera golf course road. Here one canexperience plendid

Shimla. River Pabbar flows through this valley, which offers

three kilometers from here one can enjoy beauty of Craignano
Resort and Circuit House of Fairlawns. On top of the hill
